PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Bandung City will host the Islamic Religious Education Arts and Skills Week (Pentas PAI) for junior high school level in West Java Province in 2026 on 25–26/9/2026.

The activity, which took place at the Indonesian Education University (UPI), was attended by 27 districts/cities, involving 378 participants, 216 mentors, and 42 judges.

The PAI performance is an annual event with a number of competition branches, such as the Musabaqah Tilawatil Qur'an (MTQ), Musabaqah Hifdzil Qur'an (MHQ), and the Little Preacher Competition.

Other branches include the Adhan Practice Competition, Islamic Calligraphy Competition, Islamic Religious Studies Quiz Competition, Rebana Qasidah Art Competition, and Congregational Prayer Practice Competition.

Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan said that Bandung City was chosen as the host with the theme "Exploring Islamic Talent, Creating a Generation with Character and Achievement".

"In addition to increasing the faith, piety, and noble character of students, this PAI Performance Activity is also a gathering event for all MUI chairmen, Islamic boarding school leaders, LPTQ, Islamic organizations and religious figures throughout West Java," said Farhan, Wednesday 23/9/2026.

Farhan said that the PAI Performance aims to develop students' talents, creativity, and achievements in the field of Islamic Religious Education by upholding sportsmanship.

"As hosts, we are ready and will ensure this annual event runs smoothly. Of course, the Bandung City delegation, made up of junior high school students, is ready to give their best performance and defend their overall championship at the West Java level," he said.

Farhan hopes that the 2026 PAI Performance will run smoothly so that all participants can participate in the competition in a healthy and comfortable manner while in Bandung City.

"Although winning isn't the most important thing, we must strive to give our best for ourselves, our school, and the city of Bandung. Good luck and have fun competing in the Provincial-level Islamic Education Competition," he said.

Farhan believes that a correct religious approach from an early age can help shape children into trustworthy teenagers and adults.
