PORTALJABAR, BOGOR CITY - Residents of Bogor City and its surroundings were shocked by a 4.1 magnitude earthquake on Thursday (10/4/2025), precisely at 22:16:13 WIB.

Based on the analysis results of the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the earthquake was located at coordinates 6.62 LS and 106.8 BT, or precisely located on land at a distance of 2 km southeast of Bogor City, West Java, at a depth of 5 km.

By paying attention to the location of the epicenter and the depth of the hypocenter, the earthquake that occurred was a shallow earthquake due to active fault activity.

Bogor Mayor Dedie A. Rachim appealed to the public to remain vigilant for possible aftershocks. He also said that he had received reports of several government offices being damaged.

"To all residents, I urge you to anticipate if aftershocks occur. So far, I have received reports of minor damage in several government offices. Hopefully, of course, there will be no moderate or severe damage around Bogor City," he said.

Dedie Rachim hopes that the community will remain in a safe condition.

In addition, he has also deployed the Bogor City Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) to continue monitoring potential disasters.

"We pray that there will be no more aftershocks. For that, I also ask the BPBD to continue to be vigilant and anticipate the possibility of things that we do not want," he said. (Bogor City Communication and Information Service/Fauziah)
