PORTALJABAR, BEKASI REGENCY - The Bekasi Regency Government inaugurated the Bekasi Regency Regional Child Protection Commission for the 2026-2031 period to expand access to complaints, assistance, and child protection for the community (24/6/2026).
The inauguration took place at the KH Noer Alie Hall, Bekasi Regency Government Complex, Central Cikarang.
The presence of the new management is expected to make it easier for the public to report cases involving children and obtain assistance quickly and appropriately.
Bekasi Acting Regent Asep Surya Atmaja said the inauguration was a concrete step to ensure children's rights are protected from various forms of violence and discrimination.
According to him, children are development assets that must receive protection from all elements of society.
"Children are the nation's future generation and a valuable development asset. Therefore, efforts to protect children must be a shared responsibility, not just of the government, but also of families, communities, businesses, educational institutions, and all elements of the nation," he said.
Asep explained that technological developments and high social dynamics present new challenges for child protection.
Various problems such as bullying, exploitation, child trafficking, physical violence, psychological violence, and threats in the digital space require integrated handling.
He emphasized that the Regional Child Protection Commission has a strategic role in monitoring, advocating, providing assistance, and fulfilling children's rights comprehensively.
Asep hopes that all commissioners can carry out their duties professionally, independently, responsively, and with integrity.
Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the Bekasi Regency Regional Child Protection Commission, Romdoni Sugianto Hasan, said that the initial step taken was to strengthen coordination with the regional government, the Bekasi Regency Regional Representative Council, regional apparatus, and the private sector.
These efforts aim to expand the reach of child protection through cross-sectoral collaboration.
Romdoni explained that the public will be able to submit reports through the complaint hotline and various social media platforms prepared by the Regional Child Protection Commission.
"We will set up a complaint hotline and maximize social media platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and other platforms to make it easier for the public to submit reports and obtain information related to child protection," he said.
According to him, easy access to complaints will speed up the handling of various cases that threaten children's growth and development.
Every report received will be followed up responsively according to the respective duties of each commissioner.
By strengthening complaint and assistance services, it is hoped that the people of Bekasi Regency will find it easier to obtain protection when violations of children's rights occur.
The Regional Child Protection Commission is also expected to be at the forefront of creating a safe, inclusive, and child-friendly environment in Bekasi Regency.
