PORTALJABAR, GARUT REGENCY - Ahead of the quiet day in the series of the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Head Elections (Pilkada), the candidate pair (paslon) for Regent and Deputy Regent of Garut carried out a symbolic cleanup of Campaign Equipment (APK) at Simpang Lima, Tarogong Kidul District, Friday night (11/22/2024).

This activity was witnessed by the General Election Commission (KPU), the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu), and the Garut Regency Government.

Garut Regency KPU Chairman Dian Hasanudin, appreciated the steps taken by the candidate pairs in cleaning up APK ahead of the quiet period.

This action is in line with KPU Regulation Number 13 of 2024 concerning Campaigns, which stipulates that all campaign materials must be cleaned at least three days before voting.

"If today the candidate pairs clean up their own campaign equipment, of course this is a good thing and hopefully this can be followed by all teams in Garut Regency, the APK that is spread can be cleaned up before the quiet period," said Dian.

Dian explained, based on the rules, starting from the 24th to the voting day on November 27, 2024, no APKs may be installed throughout Garut Regency.

Regarding this activity, Dian explained that this was an initiative of the candidate pairs, while the KPU, Bawaslu, and local governments were only present as witnesses in the symbolic procession.

"We are not directing, we are only informing the PKPU that in the regulations, whoever installs their campaign equipment must clean up the campaign equipment," he continued.

Dian hopes that all parties, including political parties and volunteers, will immediately complete the APK cleanup so that the implementation of the quiet period and voting runs smoothly. He added that his party will focus on distributing election logistics to polling stations (TPS), while Bawaslu monitors potential violations, and local governments ensure that all technical needs run according to plan.
