PORTALJABAR, GARUT REGENCY - The General Election Commission (KPU) of Garut Regency has officially completed the Open Plenary Meeting for the Recapitulation of Vote Counting Results for the Election of Governor and Deputy Governor of West Java and the Election of Regent and Deputy Regent of Garut in 2024. This event took place at the Ballroom of the Santika Hotel, Jalan Cipanas Baru, Tarogong Kaler District (5/12/2024).

Based on the results of the Plenary Meeting, candidate pair number 02, Abdusy Syakur Amin – drg. Luthfianisa Putri, won with 915,780 votes or 66.31%. Meanwhile, candidate pair number 01, dr. Helmi Budiman – Yudi Lasminingrat, won 466,365 votes or 33.69%. The total valid votes were recorded at 1,381,145, with 38,809 invalid votes, so that the total votes (valid and invalid votes) reached 1,419,954.

Meanwhile, in the West Java Gubernatorial Election (Pilgub), candidate pair number 04, Dedi Mulyadi – Erwan Setiawan, won the highest number of votes with 854,948 votes or 62.78%. They were ahead of three other candidate pairs, namely:

* Candidate pair number 01, Acep Adang Ruhiat – Gitalis Dwinatarina, with 205,363 votes (15.08%);
* Candidate pair number 02, Jeje Wiratadinata – Ronal Suryapradja, with 120,166 votes (8.82%); and
* Candidate pair number 03, Ahmad Syaikhu – Ilham Akbar Habibie, with 181,436 votes (13.32%).

Garut KPU Chairman, Dian Hasanudin, expressed his gratitude because the recapitulation process went smoothly according to the target time. He said all minutes had been signed by witnesses and Garut KPU commissioners,

"And we have also submitted it to each witness. And there were no special incidents during the recapitulation," said Dian.

Next, the Garut KPU will submit the results of the district-level vote recapitulation (Model D) to the West Java Provincial KPU for the recapitulation stage at the provincial level for the West Java Gubernatorial Election. Dian ensured that the results of the Garut Pilbup can soon be accessed by the public through the official KPU website.

"And for the election of the Regent, we have read out the decree on the vote acquisition earlier, and in the near future, maybe tomorrow (6/12/2024), it can be accessed by all people on the KPU website," added Dian.

Voter Turnout Rises
Dian also revealed that the voter participation rate in Garut Regency reached 70.83%, an increase compared to the previous Pilkada. However, he highlighted the number of invalid ballots which were still quite high, namely 4% for the Pilgub and 2.7% for the Pilbup.

"Hopefully, in the future, in the election process, the participation rate will increase and the number of invalid ballots will decrease," said Dian.

Transparency of the Election Process
As a form of transparency, the vote recapitulation was broadcast live through the Garut Regency KPU YouTube channel. Dian said this step was a collaboration with the Garut Communication and Information Service to ensure that the public could monitor the election process directly.

"So in this recapitulation process, we inform many parties, including us assisted by the Communication and Information Service regarding live streaming, so that the public is expected to know, including regarding the mechanisms that we implement during the recapitulation process," he concluded.
