PORTALJABAR, BEKASI REGENCY - Bekasi Deputy Regent (Wabup) Asep Surya Atmaja, conducted a working visit to PT Sanoh and PT Enkei in the Hyundai Industrial Area, Bekasi Regency, Monday (5/5/2025).
The visit aims to encourage increased absorption of local labor by the industrial sector. During the visit, Asep was accompanied by the Acting Head of the Bekasi Regency Manpower Office and members of Commission IV of the DPRD.
He emphasized the importance of cooperation between local governments, the industrial world, and educational institutions in reducing unemployment rates.
"I appreciate PT Enkei which has employed around 92 percent of its workforce from Bekasi Regency residents. According to him, this achievement can be an example for other companies," he said.
Asep said that the regional government is currently preparing regulations to strengthen the involvement of local workers in the industrial sector, one of which is through a draft Regional Regulation (Perda) which requires a minimum of 60 percent of workers to be local residents.
"In addition to recruitment, I also encourage companies' Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs to include practical skills training that can be utilized by the community, such as service techniques and other technical skills," he said.
Deputy General Manager of PT Enkei Indonesia Nugroho, welcomed the visit and stated his company's commitment to supporting the empowerment of local residents, including through training and internship programs.
Based on BPS data, the open unemployment rate in Bekasi Regency was recorded at 8.81 percent in 2024. The local government is targeting a reduction in this figure through strategic synergy with industry players. (Diskominfo Kab.Bekasi/UPI)
