PORTALJABAR, SUKABUMI REGENCY - The West Java Provincial Government (Pemda) under the direction of Governor Dedi Mulyadi has given approximately 1,120 public transportation drivers operating in the Cibadak area, Sukabumi Regency, a holiday.
This step was taken to reduce traffic congestion, especially in the Cibadak Sukabumi area, which is often a traffic jam, especially during the Eid al-Fitr 1447 H/2026 homecoming and return flow.
The Secretary of the West Java Transportation Agency (Sekdis), Diding Abidin, said that there are at least six routes in Sukabumi Regency, especially those operating in the Cibadak area, which are targeted to not operate during the Eid al-Fitr holiday.
Drivers are asked to stop operating for three days, namely on March 23, 24, and 29, 2026. These days are adjusted to the predicted potential traffic congestion that will occur.
As a replacement, the West Java Provincial Government through the West Java Transportation Agency (Dishub) provided compensation of IDR 200,000 per day to each driver in Cibadak, Sukabumi Regency.
"So, even though they don't drive, they're still given compensation of Rp 200,000 per day. Over three days, the total is Rp 600,000," said Diding, after collecting data on public transportation drivers receiving compensation at the Cibadak Terminal, Sukabumi Regency, Sunday (March 22, 2026).
By temporarily suspending public transportation operations, it is hoped that traffic flow will be smoother, especially during the return flow.
Before compensation was distributed, the Transportation Agency (Dishub) collected data on public transportation drivers. The data collection process was carried out in detail to ensure that compensation was distributed accurately. The data was collected, validated, and then the compensation money was transferred through a bank account to ensure transparency and direct deposit into the recipient's account.
Coordination was also carried out with the district Transportation Agency and the Land Transportation Organization (Organda) to ensure that only active drivers received compensation. The distribution of compensation was determined by agreement between the driver and the public transportation owner.
This program was also welcomed positively by Cibadak Sukabumi public transportation drivers.
"Thank God, after being given an understanding, everyone accepted it well because this is for the common good," he said.
Meanwhile, Diding stated that his office will take persuasive action against drivers who continue operating despite receiving compensation. Furthermore, if there are still drivers not registered today, they can coordinate directly with the Sukabumi Regency Transportation Agency.
"If you have received compensation but are still operating, we will remind you not to operate," said Diding.
