PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Asep Sukmana, Chairman of the West Java Quran Recitation Development Institute (LPTQ), confirmed that the West Java MTQ (The Quran Recitation Competition) will still be held. The West Java Provincial Government will host the event directly after the Garut Regency Government withdrew as the organizer.

The West Java MTQ will be held in early 2027. The opening ceremony will take place at Gedung Sate and the closing ceremony will take place at Al-Jabbar Mosque.

Asep expressed his appreciation for the West Java Provincial Government's willingness to host the West Java MTQ, as the event serves as a platform to increase the younger generation's interest in reading and internalizing the Quran. The MTQ also serves as a medium for Islamic preaching, strengthening bonds of brotherhood.

"I would like to thank the West Java Provincial Government for being willing to host the West Java MTQ," said Asep, Sunday (2/8/2026).

Information regarding the certainty of the implementation of the West Java MTQ has been distributed to the Chairpersons of LPTQ districts/cities throughout West Java on August 2, 2026.

Previously, the West Java MTQ was about to be cancelled due to the inadequate financial condition of the Garut Regency Government.

West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi acknowledged the Garut Regency Government's financial situation and confirmed that the provincial government would host the West Java MTQ (Qualifications Competition).

KDM hopes that the MTQ will be conducted fairly, including during the judging process. This event serves as a platform for spreading Islamic teachings and teaching Quranic values.
