PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan saw off 1,679 prospective Hajj pilgrims from Bandung City who will depart for the Holy Land in five groups flying from Kertajati Airport to perform the Hajj pilgrimage in 1447 Hijri/2026 AD (1/4/2026).

The congregation's send-off took place solemnly at the West Java Islamic Da'wah Central Mosque and was attended by family and local government officials.

The number of pilgrims departing consisted of 739 men and 940 women with an age range from 16 to 91 years.

Farhan said that going on the Hajj is a sacred calling that not everyone gets the opportunity to carry out.

"This is an invitation from Allah SWT. Not everyone who can afford it is willing, and not everyone who wants it is able. Therefore, we must make the most of this opportunity," said Farhan.

The pilgrims are scheduled to depart in stages in five flight groups from April 25 to May 17, 2026 via Kertajati Airport.

The Bandung City Government ensures that all departure preparations are carried out in coordination with the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, which is handling this year's Hajj organization.

Farhan reminded the congregation to take advantage of this opportunity by prioritizing worship while in the Holy Land.

"There's no obligation to buy gold or excessive souvenirs. Don't waste your energy on unnecessary things. Focus on your worship," he said.

He considered the spiritual experience during his time in Mecca and Medina to be far more valuable than material things.

Farhan also reminded people about the importance of maintaining good health, as the Hajj pilgrimage requires strong physical fitness.

"The Hajj is physically demanding. Take care of your health and don't push yourself too hard. If you're sick, you won't be able to perform your pilgrimage to its full potential," he said.

He asked the congregation to follow the Hajj rituals properly so that they understand the differences between the pillars, obligations and sunnah in carrying out worship.

According to Farhan, standing in Arafah is the core of the Hajj pilgrimage series, so pilgrims need to utilize this moment devoutly.

"Wukuf is the culmination of the Hajj. Use this time to remember Allah, repent, and draw closer to Him. Don't be tempted by anything that disrupts your devotion," he advised.

Farhan also asked the congregation to pray for the city of Bandung and Indonesia while in the Holy Land.

"Pray for Bandung to become a superior, trustworthy, and religious city. And for Indonesia to always be safe, healthy, and prosperous," said Farhan.

He hopes that all the congregation can carry out their worship smoothly and return to their homeland in good health.

"Congratulations on your Hajj pilgrimage. May Allah SWT grant you health, a smooth journey, and blessings," said Farhan.
