PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Residents of RW 11 Tamansari Row Houses used their garden produce to take part in the SAE Hunting Results cooking competition.

The competition is part of the 2026 Tamansari Arts and Culture Festival which will take place at the Cikapundung River Cascade Park on August 15, 2026.

This activity encourages residents to process plants from their surroundings into dishes while utilizing local food potential.

The Srikandi Rancage group from RW 11 Tamansari Row Houses won first place through a number of simple dishes.

The group served serundeng chicken, stir-fried water spinach, and spiced fried tempeh in the competition.

The teamwork of the members is the key to the cooking process, from determining the menu to preparing all the requirements for the competition.

"Together, cooperation," said one of the group members when describing the cooking process in the competition.

The group also determines menu ideas and purchases of ingredients through an agreement of all members before the competition takes place.

Some spices and vegetables were not purchased because the group used plants cultivated on the rooftop of the seventh floor of the Row House.

"We grow our spices. We're on the 7th floor, with a rooftop. So we use the produce, so we don't buy everything," he explained.

Utilizing garden produce helps residents meet some of their food needs while reducing dependence on purchasing.

This activity shows that residential areas can produce food by utilizing the available space for farming.

The SAE Hunting Results cooking competition also presents cultural activities that are close to the daily lives of the Tamansari community.

The residents' mutual cooperation and creativity in processing garden produce also strengthens togetherness and introduces Tamansari's local potential.
