PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government (Pemkot) welcomes the increase in flight activity at Husein Sastranegara International Airport in Bandung, which serves 10 flights on August 17, 2026.

Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan said the increase in flights during the long holiday was a positive sign for public connectivity and mobility.

"Thank God, there's a flight today. I even got goosebumps when I heard the Indonesian national anthem, and then suddenly there was a plane flying past. It was so cool," said Farhan at Bandung City Hall on August 17, 2026.

Farhan said that flight activity from August 6, 2026 and August 14, 2026 until the long holiday showed high travel demand.

"There will be more flights today. If everything goes smoothly, today's timing is perfect. From the 6th, the 14th, and through this long weekend, everything will be full of flights," he said.

The increased activity is being evaluated by the Bandung City Government to ensure the continuity of regular flights in the next two months.

The evaluation includes the number of flights, route sustainability, the image of Bandung City, and the readiness of supporting facilities and infrastructure in the airport area.

"We'll see after the next two months whether our regular flights can still operate. While we're at it, we'll evaluate the branding of Bandung City and all the supporting infrastructure around the airport," he said.

Farhan has not yet received definitive data on the occupancy rates of the 10 flights, but said that weekend travel demand until August 18, 2026, is very high.

"I don't know the exact occupancy rate yet, but the weekend flights are full until today and tomorrow. Thank God. To all destinations," said Farhan.

This condition opens up opportunities for stronger air connectivity for people traveling to and from Bandung City.

Improved flight access also has the potential to support the movement of tourists, business people, and local economic activities in the city of Bandung.

The Bandung City Government hopes that regular flights from Husein Sastranegara International Airport will run smoothly and sustainably.
