PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung Principles are a political statement containing basic principles in efforts to advance world peace and cooperation. The Bandung Dasasila is the result of the Asian-African Conference (KAA) at Gedung Merdeka Bandung on 18-25 April 1955.

Reporting from the Asian-African Conference Museum page, the historic event held in Bandung in 1955 was a turning point in cooperation between countries in Asia and Africa.

The colonialism experienced by countries in Asia and Africa was one of the backgrounds for holding this conference.

Moreover, at that time the birth of two ideologically opposing power blocs, namely the Western Bloc led by the United States (capitalist) and the Eastern Bloc led by the Soviet Union (communist), further heated up the world situation.

This increases the world's fear that World War will start again.

So the idea of holding the KAA was finally realized with Indonesia as the host, which was attended by 29 participating countries, including 5 sponsor countries.

Quoted from the Ministry of Education and Culture's website, the 1955 Asian-African Conference had several objectives, including:

1. Strengthen solidarity between countries in Asia and Africa.

2. Review the problems of socio-economic and cultural relations in Asian and African countries.

3. Establishing harmony between religious communities in Asia and Africa.

4. Contribute to advancing world peace and cooperation.

5. Launch a political movement to fight foreign capitalism.

6. Against colonialism and neocolonialism in the United States, the Soviet Union and other imperialist countries.

On this occasion, the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Soekarno, made an opening speech entitled "Let a New Asia and a New Africa be Born" (Let's Give Birth to a New Asia and a New Africa).

One of the consensus results from the Asian-African Conference was in the form of a declaration containing 10 decision points, which became known as the Bandung Principles.

The following are the contents of 10 important points from the Bandung Principles which were born at the 1955 KAA.

1. Respect human rights and respect the goals and principles of the UN Charter.

2. Respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries.
