PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Some people may still be unfamiliar with the name of the Mungsolkanas Mosque. In fact, this mosque is the oldest mosque in Bandung City, which was established in 1869 or is already 155 years old.

The Mungsolkanas Mosque is located in Mama Winata Alley, Cihampelas Street RT 02 RW 05, Cipaganti Village, Coblong District, Bandung City.

Mungsolkanas Mosque was founded by a cleric named Kiai Haji Abdulrohim or often called Mama Aden.

Reported from various sources, Mungsolkanas is an abbreviation of the Sundanese sentence 'Mangga Urang Ngaos Sholawat Ka Kanjeng Nabi SAW'.

The name is taken from the philosophy of prayer contained in the book Tankibulkaul. This means that everyone who reads and practices prayers to the Prophet SAW, his prayers will definitely be accepted and granted by Allah SWT.

Initially, the mosque located in a densely populated residential area in the Cihampelas area was just a stilt building made of cubicles.

When it was first built, the mosque building was not like it is now. Its shape was still a stage from a cubicle with one floor. There used to be a pool below which has now been converted into an office for the needs of the mosque.

Currently, the mosque has undergone significant changes into a two-story building that is mainly made of walls, there are no remains of the old building so that the mosque looks very sturdy and modern.

Even though the shape of the building has changed, the Mungsolkanas Mosque has several relics that still exist today, one of which is a handwritten Qur'an that is still stored in a glass display case on the second floor of the mosque.

Another relic is a large black stone engraved with the name and year of the mosque's construction, which is placed in front of the entrance. It says, "Mungsolkanas Mosque/ Established in 1869/ Mangga Urang Ngaos Sholawat ka Kanjeng Nabi SAW."
