PORTALJABAR, DISTRICT. GARUT - Minister of Cooperatives, Small and Micro Enterprises (Menkop UKM) Teten Masduki and Acting Regent of Garut Barnas Adjidin, inaugurated the Joint Production House (RPB), located on Jalan Guntur, Garut Regency, Saturday (17/2/2024).

The inauguration of the RPB is in commemoration of the 211th anniversary of Garut Regency, aiming to improve the quality of typical Garut leather products.

Barnas stated that Sukaregang leather products have become the main attraction for tourists visiting Garut Regency, both because of their diversity and quality which is not inferior to international products.

Barnas emphasized the importance of making good use of RPB, considering that investing in modern production equipment is not cheap. He also invited all levels to support the use of this RPB so that it is beneficial for the people of Garut.

"This is a very expensive item, and earlier we saw that the results of the laser cutting were very precise. Well of course with this precision it will produce superior products that are not inferior to the outside world, and can even be sold to other places," he said.

With this RPB, he also asked for direction and support from the Minister of Cooperatives and all levels, so that the use of this RPB could truly become something wise and beneficial for the people of Garut.

"Once again, the Garut Regency Government would like to thank you and all the staff, as well as invited guests and leather craftsmen of course, and we must be ready to welcome a better future with innovation, with quality, with proud results," he said.

Indonesian Coordinating Minister for SMEs Teten Masduki highlighted the importance of quality in Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) products. He hopes that with RPB being equipped with modern production equipment, Garut's typical leather products can be of higher quality and compete with foreign products.

Teten emphasized the importance of good management of RPB to ensure the continuity and development of this business. He also proposed that the Garut District Government (Pemdakab) equip RPB with new machines every year to support the growth of this business.

"Because the industry continues to develop, we also have to continue to keep up with modern production equipment, and so this really requires managerial skills so that this factory does not experience aging, but continues to develop," he said.

It is also hoped that this RPB can become a product processing place for leather MSMEs in Garut Regency, so that they can increase the efficiency and quality of their production.

"Earlier, what I asked about is that the cutting tool is much more precise, much faster, doesn't consume a lot of waste, that's quite good, so people who have small convections outside (convections) cut here, it's faster, right?" be more precise, (then) sew them (or) assemble them in their respective places," he said.

"So, Mr. Regent, I don't see this as physical, but this is a big concept that we are starting to build industrialization. Well, this must be understood by everyone, because we can't make products of the same quality over and over again, we have to move forward," he said. (Diskominfo Garut/UPI)
