PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - In order to celebrate the 214th Anniversary of the City of Bandung (HJKB), the Bandung City Government is holding the 2024 Elderly Sports Week (POR).

The implementation of the 2024 Elderly POR includes gymnastics competitions for the elderly category, gymnastics for the pre-elderly category, table tennis and chess.

Pre-elderly gymnastics competition, held at the Bandung City Hall Plaza (29/8/2024).

"This pre-elderly gymnastics competition was attended by 21 sub-districts. Including those who participated in this competition aged 45-59 years," said Head of Sports Culture, Bandung City Youth and Sports Agency, Komarudin.

He said that gymnastics is a type of sport that is mostly done by adults to the elderly. Gymnastics can improve the function of body organs, brain, muscles, and physical fitness.

On the other hand, Komarudin continued, gymnastics is very simple and can be done at any time and place as needed. Gymnastics also provides good benefits in the social environment.

"In addition to pre-elderly gymnastics, on September 23-24, 2024, there will also be elderly gymnastics competitions, table tennis and chess competitions, taking place at the Badminton Sports Hall and the PPK Building in Bandung City," he said.

He also ensured that elderly gymnastics is easy to make activities more lively. Because, elderly gymnastics groups have been formed in every region.

"This elderly gymnastics group actively carries out activities in their respective areas, so there are quite a lot of participants," he explained.

Regarding prizes, Komarudin said there would be training money, certificates and trophies.
