PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The West Java Provincial Government officially launched the rebranding of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) with the name Metro Jabar Trans. Carrying the slogan "Great Bus for All", this program aims to improve the quality of mass transportation services in the Greater Bandung area and attract more users.
Acting Head of the West Java Transportation Agency, Ade Afriandi, said that this rebranding is a strategic step to instill a positive image for mass transportation services in West Java.
"The Metro Jabar Trans rebranding is here as an answer to the community's need for comfortable, affordable, and reliable public transportation. We hope that this service will be a source of pride for the people of Greater Bandung and West Java," said Ade during the inauguration of the BRT at Gedung Sate, Bandung City, Tuesday (12/31/2024)
Metro Jabar Trans covers six main routes in the Bandung Basin area, namely:
1. Leuwipanjang – Soreang
2. Parahyangan New City – Bandung Square
3. BEC – Baleendah
4. Leuwipanjang – Dago
5. Dago – Jatinangor
6. Leuwipanjang – Majalaya
This BRT bus is supported by 85 vehicles and the rates applied are very affordable, namely IDR 4,900 for the general public and IDR 2,000 for students and the elderly.
This service is scheduled to start operating on January 1, 2025, managed by PT Jasa Sarana, a BUMD of West Java Province.
The funding comes from the West Java Regional Budget, ensuring the continuity of services to the community in the Bandung Basin area.
Acting Governor of West Java Bey Machmudin said that the BRT is part of the transportation transformation in West Java.
"Metro Jabar Trans is the first step towards an integrated transportation system. In addition, we are also working on the Padalarang-Cicalengka KRL project to support better connectivity," said Bey.
To attract public interest, the West Java Provincial Government is holding a prize competition program for BRT users who diligently ride every day to increase public participation.
"We want to make sure the public knows that in Greater Bandung there is now a reliable integrated bus service. Hopefully, this service will not only meet transportation needs, but also create pride for users," he said.
Acting Head of Bandung City Transportation Agency Asep Kuswara said that the benefits of Metro Jabar Trans are felt not only in Bandung City, but also in the Greater Bandung and Sumedang areas.
"It is hoped that this mass transportation can be utilized well by the community as a comfortable and efficient travel solution," he said.
Metro Jabar Trans is expected to be a symbol of modernization of mass transportation in West Java, as well as a real step in realizing better integrated transportation.
With this launch, the government is optimistic that it will be able to answer the public's need for quality public transportation services.
