PORTALJABAR, BOGOR CITY - The Chairperson of Dekranasda of Bogor City, Yantie Rachim, expressed her dream of bringing Bogor batik to a higher level.
He conveyed this at the launch of Sri Ratna Handayani's book entitled "Guarding Batik, Caring for Indonesia" at the 2nd Floor Atrium, Botani Square, Bogor City.
"Bogor batik is the identity of Bogor City. My dream is very big for Bogor batik, namely that Bogor batik must be brought to the international level," he said, Saturday (4/26/2025).
Yantie Rachim emphasized that preserving batik is not just about maintaining tradition, but also about introducing it to the wider world.
For this reason, he continues to embrace all business actors and batik craftsmen in Bogor City to continue to innovate without abandoning traditional values.
"There is only one message I want to convey, love batik and preserve it," he said.
He hopes that Bogor batik will not only become part of local identity, but also become a national pride that can compete on the world stage.
In addition, Yantie Rachim also hopes that Bogor City residents will help promote Bogor City batik abroad.
"I hope Bogor residents who travel abroad, whether for business or vacation, will wear Bogor batik in their activities, and at the same time introduce it to friends and local residents," he said.
The author and owner of the Handayani Geulis Batik Bogor outlet, Sri Ratna Handayani, said that young people today need to know more about batik so they can appreciate and love it.
"If they know and understand the process of making batik, I am sure they will appreciate batik more," he said.

The book "Preserving Batik, Caring for Indonesia" is a reflection and an invitation to involve all elements of society in preserving batik.
In the series of events, a poetry competition about Bogor Batik was also held which was attended by 52 participants.
