PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The mural painting project under the Pasupati Bridge continues with a target completion date of the end of January. The mural under the bridge is predicted to be the longest in Indonesia, thanks to its size and length.
Head of the Bandung City Water Resources and Highways Agency, Didi Ruswandi, said that so far the work has covered most of the surface, although the detailed parts of the mural side have not been completed.
"This progress was hampered by limited heavy equipment," said Didi, Wednesday (15/1/2025).
Currently, the team only uses 4 cranes to work on high areas, while the ideal requirement is 6 cranes.
For the time being, work in hard-to-reach areas is being carried out with the help of a gantar or pole, while waiting for the addition of two cranes which are still in the procurement process.
The project involved a team of eight experts. The coloring process was carried out by personnel from the Karees and Cibeunying teams with a total of 20 personnel who came down every day.
"We work according to regular working hours, but if needed to meet targets, we are ready to work overtime," he said.
For the sake of smoothness and safety, Didi requested that the parking area under the bridge be temporarily abolished or diverted.
"This is to anticipate the risk of paint falling onto parked vehicles," he said.
The mural work is not only aimed at beautifying the underpass of the Pasupati Bridge, but also to present a prestigious public space in the city of Bandung.
Great hopes are pinned that the Pasipati Bridge underpass can become a new, attractive and proud tourist destination.
"Hopefully one day this place will truly become a prestigious public space. We want the underpass of Pasupati Bridge to become a new icon for tourists," he said.
With the collaboration of all parties, this mural work is expected to be completed on target and become a new pride for the citizens of Bandung City. (Diskominfo Kota Bandung/UPI)
