PORTALJABAR, BEKASI REGENCY - Bekasi Regency Regional Secretary Endin Samsudin attended the Regional Conference (Musda) and Inauguration of the Regional Leadership Council of the All-Indonesian Market Traders Association (DPD APPSI) of Bekasi Regency for the 2026–2031 period at the Le Premier Deltamas Hotel, Central Cikarang. The Bekasi Regency Government is encouraging the new APPSI management to become a strategic partner in strengthening traditional markets as drivers of the people's economy. (22/6/2026)

The activity was attended by elements of the Bekasi Regency Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD), the West Java APPSI management, and market traders from various areas in Bekasi Regency.

Endin Samsudin congratulated the Chairperson of the Bekasi Regency APPSI DPD and the newly appointed management team.

"On behalf of the Bekasi Regency Government, we congratulate the APPSI Chair and all the administrators who were inaugurated today. We hope that going forward, we can continue to build commitment and collaboration for the advancement of traditional markets and the well-being of the community," he said.

Endin said that the Bekasi Regency Government continues to support various National Strategic Programs, including the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program, People's Schools, and the construction of the South Jakarta-Cikampek II Toll Road.

According to him, traditional markets have an important role in supporting the growth of the people's economy so the existence of APPSI is needed to encourage the competitiveness of traditional markets.

"Traditional markets are one of the main drivers of the community's economy. Therefore, APPSI's presence is crucial in helping revitalize traditional markets so they can grow and become more competitive," he said.

He assessed that traditional markets in Bekasi Regency still have a strong attraction, including Cikarang Market, Serang Market, and Cibarusah Market, which are still busy with visitors.

"Traditional and modern market segments are actually different. What needs to be done is to improve the quality of service, cleanliness, comfort, and governance to make traditional markets more attractive to the public," he said.

The Bekasi Regency Government is also currently renovating Cikarang Market after the legal process that previously posed an obstacle has been completed.

"Going forward, Cikarang Market will be better managed. There are even plans to make it one of the largest traditional markets in West Java. This, of course, requires support and cooperation from all parties," he explained.

Endin emphasized that market development requires support from local governments, the Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD), market managers, and trader organizations to ensure that policies are aligned with needs on the ground.

"APPSI is a crucial platform because they understand the real conditions of traders. The government is ready to listen to various aspirations and input to ensure that the policies adopted truly meet the needs on the ground," he said.

In addition to infrastructure improvements, the Bekasi Regency Government is also encouraging increased security, electrical installation arrangements, cleanliness, and fire prevention to create a safe and comfortable market for traders and the public.

The Bekasi Regency Government will also review the spacing between traditional markets and modern retail chains to create a healthy and equitable business climate.

"This is good input for local governments. Going forward, market management must be carried out comprehensively so that traditional markets can survive and thrive amidst globalization and increasingly fierce business competition," he said.

Endin hopes that the new management of the Bekasi Regency APPSI DPD can carry out its mandate and make a real contribution to the progress of traditional markets and improving community welfare.
