PORTALJABAR, BEKASI REGENCY - The Bekasi Regency Government is encouraging members of the Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) to become Smart Moms who understand digital technology to assist Generation Alpha in growing intelligently and with character (14/7/2026).

Advisor to the Dharma Wanita Association of Bekasi Regency, Nia Yuniawati Asep Surya Atmaja, conveyed this during the 2026 Bekasi Regency DWP Routine Meeting at the Wibawa Mukti Building Hall.

The activity, themed "The Challenges of Educating Generation Alpha in the Digital Era," discussed parenting strategies amidst the development of the internet, artificial intelligence, and social media.

"This theme is crucial because it directly touches on the role of a mother as the first educator in the family. Generation Alpha possesses extraordinary potential, but they also face significant challenges. Therefore, parents must be able to adapt to accompany their children as they grow into a generation that is both intelligent and characterized," he said.

Nia explained that technology helps children obtain information and improve digital literacy when used with proper guidance.

However, unsupervised use of technology can trigger risks such as device addiction, exposure to negative content, decreased concentration in learning, and even mental health disorders.

Nia believes that parenting styles need to adapt because simply banning the use of technology is not enough to cope with the changing times.

"Technology isn't something to be avoided, but rather something to be guided. Our children's future lies in the digital age, so our job is to guide them to use technology in a healthy, productive, and responsible manner," he stressed.

Nia invited members of the Bekasi Regency DWP to become Smart Moms who are able to understand technology and provide examples of wise digital use.

He encouraged parents to build open communication, instill religious values and character, and provide digital literacy to children from an early age.

"Children learn from what they see. Therefore, parents must be role models in using technology. Build warm communication, instill religious and moral values, and guide them so they can use the digital world wisely," he said.

Through these regular meetings, Nia hopes that DWP members can broaden their horizons and share experiences to build families that are adaptive to technology.

"I hope DWP will continue to be a learning space, a space for sharing, and a space for mutual empowerment for all its members. From strong families, a generation of Bekasi Regency will emerge that is not only intellectually and digitally superior, but also morally, spiritually, and virtuous," he concluded.
