PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The 2026 National Student Sports Olympiad (O2SN) for high school and vocational high school students at the West Java Provincial Level officially opened at the Pajajaran Sports Field in Bandung City on Thursday (July 2, 2026). The event, which runs until July 3, 2026, will feature hundreds of participants from 27 regencies/cities across West Java.

Head of the Vocational High School Development Division (PSMK) of the West Java Education Office, Edy Purwanto, said that O2SN is not just an event to determine the champion, but also a means to build character, sportsmanship, and to identify potential student athletes who will represent West Java at the national level.

"Winning and losing in competitions is commonplace. The most important thing is upholding sportsmanship. That spirit will be our strength when representing West Java at the national level," he said.

Edy stated that the selected athletes still have approximately two months to prepare for the national O2SN. Therefore, he urged all participants to take advantage of this opportunity by training optimally.
According to him, O2SN is a platform for developing talent as well as searching for superior seeds who are expected to be able to bring honor to the name of West Java through sporting achievements.

He also praised this year's O2SN, which featured competitions in five sports: athletics, rock climbing, badminton, pencak silat, and swimming. These sports are expected to produce high-achieving young athletes from various regions in West Java.

Apart from pursuing achievements, Edy also reminded all participants to maintain their physical condition during the competition.

"Facing competition is no easy feat; it requires good stamina. Therefore, compete fairly and uphold sportsmanship. This demonstrates that West Java high school and vocational school students are special individuals," he said.
