PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Financial Services Authority (OJK) continues to be committed to implementing the Fair Trade concept to build a banking industry that is fair in protecting consumers, workers and producers.
OJK Chief Executive of Banking Supervision Dian Ediana Rae said that the theme of fair trade in the financial services industry has a direct link to several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) programs adopted by the United Nations (UN), especially regarding economic justice and environmental sustainability (UNDP, 2024).
"The principle of fair trade ensures fairness throughout the supply chain, including protection for producers, workers, and consumers. In the context of financial inclusion, fair trade also supports wider access to financial services and encourages the formation of an inclusive and sustainable financial system while still supporting the development of domestic industry," said Dian in the OJK Mengajar activity welcoming the 13th Anniversary of OJK by giving a Public Lecture on International Trade Law with the theme "Fair Trade in the Financial Services Industry" held at the Faculty of Law, Padjajaran University, Sumedang, Tuesday (24/9/2024).
In front of 300 students who attended the activity, Dian also said that OJK as a regulator in the financial services sector continues to encourage the implementation of sustainable finance, including through the issuance of the Indonesian Sustainable Green Taxonomy (TKBI) and the Climate Risk Management & Scenario Analysis (CRMS) Banking as a guide for banks in distributing financing by considering environmental aspects.
"Global challenges facing the financial services sector include geopolitical risks that can affect economic growth, inflation, financial markets, and global supply chains.
OJK hopes that through discussions in this public lecture, students and financial industry players can enrich their insights into the challenges and opportunities in global financial services trade, while supporting the creation of fair and sustainable trade.
"This activity is part of OJK's commitment to continue contributing to creating a globally competitive financial services industry and strengthening the role of the financial sector in realizing community welfare," said Dian.
Meanwhile, Dean of the Faculty of Law, Padjajaran University, Sigid Suseno, appreciated the OJK Mengajar activity and hoped that students could optimize this activity to increase their knowledge and practical understanding.
"Hopefully it will continue with other activities that provide better support at FH Unpad. Mr. Dian is not only a practitioner but also a lecturer at the Faculty of Law Unpad. You get qualified speakers from a theoretical and practical perspective. Very knowledgeable, so that students can get better knowledge," said Sigid. (Parno)
