PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - To optimize waste management in the region, each sub-district and sub-district continues to innovate to minimize the production of discarded waste.
One of them is Cipadung Village which has a superior program, namely Cipadung Sesah Hilapna. This activity has the abbreviation Alms Garbage Presents a Comfortable and Beautiful Residential Environment.
In a podcast activity with Bandung public relations, Cipadung Village Head Lukman Ependi, explained that this program started from selecting organic and non-organic waste (23/2/2024).
"We are rolling out the Cipadung Sesah Hilapna program. So we hope to start sorting the waste, the wet organic waste goes to saung maggot. The dry organic waste goes to Kang Empos and the non-organic waste is given to scavengers or collectors through the Gorber Team and sold," he said.
Regarding saung maggot, Lukman said he had started it in 2018.
"Cipadung has had a maggot saung, since 2018. There are maggot activists in RW 04, although individually. This has been going on for a long time and involves residents donating rubbish to the maggot activists," he said.
He said, until now saung maggot is still running optimally in waste management.
"Thank God it is still running, then this year there was increased support from the Bandung City Government to build a maggot hangar covering an area of 100 square meters," he said.
Regarding waste management, Lukman added, currently it is still in the process of becoming economic value. So that gradually this effort can be felt by the community of 21,194 people.
"We hope that waste management will be able to improve welfare. However, currently the economic results received have not yet been felt, it will take time and struggle, this is still a process," he added.
As an effort to manage waste in the area, Lukman continues to provide outreach to the community on certain activities.
"As a way of socializing, we take advantage of the meeting moment. We tell them to start sorting waste from home. We convey it to posyandu, PKK activities including woro - woro. We even go to the Tegal food stall to sort organic waste to be used as maggot food," he said .
