
PORTALJABAR, GARUT REGENCY - Garut Regent, Abdusy Syakur Amin, strengthened the development of new renewable energy in Garut Regency through a working visit to the National Energy Council Office in South Jakarta to encourage the use of environmentally friendly energy that has an impact on energy security and the community's economy (6/5/2026).
The visit discussed the acceleration of geothermal energy development, which has long been one of Garut Regency's leading potentials.
Abdusy Syakur Amin said that utilizing renewable energy is a crucial step in meeting future energy needs while also opening up regional investment opportunities.
"We discussed efforts to develop energy in Garut Regency, particularly renewable energy, as it is expected to be a solution to the future energy crisis," said Syakur.
A member of the National Energy Council from the academic sector, Mohamad Fadhil Hasan, believes that Garut has great potential as a pioneering region for geothermal development in Indonesia.
According to Fadhil, geothermal resources in Garut can provide broad benefits if supported by accelerated policies and cross-sectoral cooperation.
"We encourage the Garut Regency Government to be more intensive, faster, and more extensive in utilizing renewable energy in Garut Regency," said Fadhil.
The development of new renewable energy is also expected to open up new economic opportunities for communities around the energy area, ranging from job opportunities to increased local business activity.
The Garut Regency Government is targeting sustainable use of clean energy while supporting emission reduction and national energy security.
