PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The labor-intensive program implemented by the Bandung City Government (Pemkot) throughout 2026 continues to have a positive impact on the community. As of August 2026, the program had absorbed approximately 4,100 workers from various areas of Bandung City.

The Head of the Bandung City Manpower Office (Disnaker), Yayan Ahmad Brilyana, revealed that this achievement came from the implementation of labor-intensive programs sourced from proposals from the Development Planning Conference (Musrenbang), aspirations from council members' recess, and regular programs managed by Disnaker.

"The labor-intensive program has employed around 4,100 people by August 2026. This program is funded through Musrenbang (Residential Development Planning), recess programs, and regular programs," Yayan said on Friday (August 28, 2026).

In addition, the Manpower Office is preparing to gradually implement the program for approximately 3,900 other people. In the near future, there will still be a quota for approximately 500 participants to be involved in labor-intensive activities.

According to Yayan, the labor-intensive program is one of the government's important instruments in maintaining the economic resilience of the community, especially for residents affected by changes in global economic conditions.

"The goal of this labor-intensive program is to provide a stimulus to residents affected by economic changes. This program acts as an economic buffer to maintain purchasing power and enable people to meet their daily needs," he said.

He explained that each labor-intensive program participant received an incentive of approximately Rp1.7 million during their participation. These funds are expected to circulate back into the community, helping stimulate the local economy.

"When participants receive income from this program, the money is recirculated back into the surrounding community. So it not only helps individuals but also supports the broader economic activity of the community," he said.

In addition to economic benefits, labor-intensive programs also have significant social and environmental impacts. Various activities undertaken by participants, such as environmental cleanups and maintenance of public facilities, contribute to creating cleaner and more comfortable areas.

"The impact is twofold. First, it supports the community's economy. Second, the environment becomes cleaner and more organized," said Yayan.

The 2026 labor-intensive program has been implemented in nearly all sub-districts in Bandung City. The program has received a positive response from the community, as it provides additional income and creates temporary employment opportunities for residents in need.

Seeing the benefits generated, the Bandung City Government plans to continue the labor-intensive program in 2027. Yayan said that the Manpower Office has proposed a budget through the Work Plan and Budget and Temporary Budget Ceiling Priorities (RKA-PPAS) to ensure the program's sustainability.

Yayan hopes that the labor-intensive program will not only be a means of providing economic assistance, but will also be able to produce real benefits for the community and the environment.

"This program is excellent for supporting the community's economy. But most importantly, it must be productive, with tangible results for the community. So, it's not just about receiving money, but also generating benefits for the environment and local residents," he said.
