PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Mayor of Bandung, Muhammad Farhan, believes that Pancasila is not just the foundation of the state, but rather a living ideology that has grown and is deeply rooted in the long journey of Nusantara civilization.

According to Farhan, although the formulation of Pancasila was first officially delivered by Bung Karno on June 1, 1945, the values contained therein have long lived in the culture and life of Indonesian society.

"Pancasila has existed and been unearthed from the very roots of our nation. These values have served as the foundation of our national and state life to this day," said Farhan during the 2026 Pancasila Day commemoration ceremony at Bandung City Hall Plaza on Monday (June 1, 2026).

Carrying the theme "Pancasila Unites the Nation, the Foundation of World Peace", the commemoration is a momentum to reaffirm the commitment to nationalism, unity, and tolerance amidst the diversity of society.

Farhan believes that Pancasila has proven to be a guiding star for the Indonesian nation in facing various global challenges.

Amidst global uncertainty, inter-state conflicts, and rapidly occurring social changes, Pancasila remains the moral anchor that maintains the direction of the nation's journey.

"Pancasila is humanity's moral anchor in the face of global turbulence, which has a significant impact on the values and norms we believe in. Pancasila is also an eternal guideline for the Indonesian nation," he said.

According to him, Indonesia has demonstrated a vital role in maintaining regional stability and peace. This spirit represents a concrete implementation of the second principle of Pancasila, namely, Just and Civilized Humanity.

"We want to see the world become a better world. Peace is not just the absence of war, but the presence of justice for all humanity," he said.

However, Farhan reminded that justice is not only a global issue.

According to him, justice must also be realized in everyday life through equal distribution of the benefits of development, economic progress, and technological development for all members of society.

He believes that every progress achieved must be guided by the moral values of Pancasila so as not to give rise to social inequality or deviations in national life.

"Economic progress and technological advancement must be felt fairly and equally by all residents of Bandung City," he stressed.

On the occasion of Pancasila Birth Day, Farhan also invited all young generations to make Pancasila a living ideology or an ideology that lives in everyday thoughts and actions.

He reminded that the noble values of Pancasila should not just be a slogan or decorative words, but should be truly realized in the life of society, the nation, and the state.

"Let's reaffirm our national commitment. We will show the world that Indonesia is a great nation that upholds the values of humanity and unity," he said.

Closing his speech, Farhan invited all people to continue to maintain the spirit of unity and make Pancasila a guideline in every step of national development.

"Indonesian blood flows in our veins. Pancasila lives in every heartbeat of every citizen. Happy Pancasila Day. Long live my country, long live Indonesia," he concluded.

Also present on the occasion were members of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), the Chairperson and members of the Bandung City Council (DPRD), members of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri), senior government agencies, community organizations, religious organizations, community leaders, the Veterans Legion, the Scout Movement, and regional officials within the Bandung City Government.
