PORTALJABAR, BOGOR REGENCY - Bogor Regent Rudy Susmanto is preparing to transform the Parung area into a new, integrated economic center.

It is not just a market arrangement, but combines trade, culinary and transportation functions in one modern area.

This was conveyed by Rudy Susmanto when leading a coordination meeting with the ranks of regional apparatus heads, at the Bogor Regent's Hall, Cibinong, Monday (27/4/2026).

Regent Rudy stated that the Parung area has significant potential for more structured and representative development. One of the main plans is the construction of a fish market integrated with a community service center and culinary area.

"The concept isn't just a regular market. We want a well-organized fish market, with a comfortable dining area on the upper floor. People can enjoy culinary delights while observing the trading activity below," said Rudy.

In addition, the area will be equipped with supporting facilities such as an integrated parking area (park-and-ride) and a public transportation shelter. This measure is expected to address a common problem in Parung, such as congestion caused by vehicles parked haphazardly on the road.

The Bogor Regency Government has prepared two strategic land areas to support this development. The first, approximately 7,000 square meters, is planned to become the main center of integrated economic activity.

Meanwhile, the second plot of land, approximately 2 hectares in size, will be used for supporting area development, including transportation access.

According to Rudy, this development aims not only to improve infrastructure quality but also to directly stimulate the local economy. He emphasized that the approach used is collaboration between the government and the private sector to accelerate the development process.

"We don't want government-owned land to just sit idle. It's better for us to collaborate so we can provide economic benefits to the community," he stressed.

Under the proposed partnership scheme, the Bogor Regency Government is offering various options, ranging from leases to long-term Joint Operations (KSO). The government also promises streamlined permitting, provided it complies with applicable regulations.

In line with this, Bogor Regency Regional Secretary Ajat Rochmat Jatnika explained that regional development is being carried out in stages and in stages. After focusing on Cibinong, attention is now shifting to Parung as the next strategic area.

"The concept isn't about eviction, but about organization. We want to bring order, in keeping with the spirit of "Tegar Beriman." Street vendors will still be provided with facilities, but with a neater and more comfortable layout," he explained.

He added that the redevelopment of Parung also includes optimizing old assets, such as the previously unused terminal. The terminal is currently being reactivated and will be integrated with Parung Market, including the construction of access roads to facilitate public mobility without requiring long detours.

"In the future, the Parung area will be designed as a single unit that connects to Ciseeng, even highlighting local potential as an icon of the area," said Ajat.

Meanwhile, the President Director of Perumda Pasar Tohaga stated that his party has prepared technical steps for arrangement, including relocating street vendors to the market area.

A total of 700 stalls have been prepared to accommodate traders, especially those operating in the vegetable, freshwater, and chicken and fish commodity sectors.

"This restructuring will not only relocate street vendors but also clean up the area in front of the market. This area will be designated a red zone first before determining its use, whether as a park or an ornamental fish center," he said.

He admitted that initially, there were pros and cons among traders. However, as the process progressed, support has grown stronger, reaching around 90 percent.

Perumda Pasar Tohaga aims to develop the Parung area as a regionally competitive ornamental fish center, even the largest in Southeast Asia. This will require adequate infrastructure support, from stall layout and clean and representative market facilities to adequate parking access.

The redevelopment of the Parung area is part of the Bogor Regency Government's broader strategy to create new centers of economic growth in the region. With an integrated concept, Parung is expected to become not only a trading center but also a comfortable and modern public space for the community.
