PORTALJABAR, DISTRICT. WEST BANDUNG - Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), Lieutenant General TNI Suharyanto, conducted an inspection of locations affected by floods and landslides in the West Bandung Regency area, West Java, on Wednesday (27/3/2025). The presence of the Head of BNPB was ordered by President Joko Widodo as a form of representation that the government is present in disaster management.
Upon arrival in West Bandung, Suharyanto immediately visited the refugee camp at Padakati Elementary School, Cibenda Village, Cipongkor District, West Bandung. During his visit, Suharyanto ensured that all handling was going well. Starting from the aspect of handling refugees to fulfilling basic needs.
"At this location, we have checked the condition of refugees, public kitchens and the availability of logistics, all of which tend to be relatively fulfilled," said Suharyanto.
During his visit, Suharyanto then chaired a coordination meeting for handling floods and landslides in West Bandung. In this meeting, efforts and steps that could be taken to speed up handling were determined.
The first step, namely, search operations to find victims who are still missing must be more optimal. Of course, in the search operation, the joint SAR team should also adhere to safety aspects, bearing in mind that the terrain at the location is still raining and could have the potential for further landslides.
"There are still four days left of the seven-day 'golden time' in the search operation, this must really be maximized, of course the officers must continue to comply with safety procedures," he said.
Suharyanto also took the time to chat with the refugees. And they admit they are still afraid to return home. Because residents are still worried about the potential for further landslides.
In response to this, Suharyanto said to open the Weather Modification Technology (TMC) option. With the TMC, it is hoped that rainfall can be reduced, so that the emergency search and handling process can run optimally.
"For weather, we will collaborate with BMKG to try to reduce rainfall with TMC, so that search operations can be maximized," explained Suharyanto.
Floods and landslides in West Bandung also had an impact on residents' houses being damaged. Based on reports collected, at least 30 houses were damaged by landslides.
Regarding this matter, further coordination has also been established with PVMBG and related agencies. A study of the condition of the soil structure is also a consideration that indicates that locations inhabited by residents are disaster-prone locations.
"We are currently in the process of preparing the land and collecting data on residents. I have instructed it to be accelerated, so that the handling can be more optimal," said Suharyanto.
Suharyanto also provided Ready-to-Use Funds (DSP) for emergency management operations in affected locations. The total DSP provided is worth 550 million. 250 million each was given to the Regent of West Bandung, 150 million to the Kodim and 150 million to the Police. This will be used for operations to support the acceleration of emergency handling.
Apart from DSP, BNPB also provides assistance in the form of logistics and equipment, namely, 2 sets of refugee tents, 30 family tents, 300 mattresses, 300 blankets, 100 folding mattresses, 300 packages of basic necessities, 300 hygiene kits, two units of solar panels. and five Alkon pumps.
