PORTALJABAR, CIMAHI CITY - The West Java Province Family Welfare Empowerment Team (TP PKK) expressed its appreciation to the women who are members of the Independent Women Farmers Group (KWT) in Cigugur Tengah Village, Cimahi Tengah District, Cimahi City. They have successfully developed agricultural activities while supporting food security and the family economy.

This appreciation was conveyed by the West Java Province PKK TP Samantha Dewi Erwan during a working visit to the Mandiri KWT, Cigugur Village, Central Cimahi District, Cimahi City, Friday (28/8/2026).

"The Independent Women's Group (KWT) of Cigugur Tengah Village is a concrete example of that spirit. I welcome them with great joy and express my deepest appreciation to the women administrators," Samantha said in her remarks.

According to him, the dedication and consistency of the administrators and members of KWT Mandiri are examples of the implementation of the spirit of mutual cooperation and independence that are in line with the PKK program, especially in the areas of food and family security.

He assessed that the existence of KWT has an important role in strengthening food security from the family to the community level.

"We believe that groups like KWT Mandiri are the spearhead of family food security at the grassroots level," he said.

Samantha also emphasized that the visit was not only to observe the development of KWT activities, but also to hear directly about the various obstacles faced by members in the field.

Thus, he said, TP PKK together with related parties can discuss finding solutions and provide the necessary support so that KWT Mandiri can continue to develop.

During the visit, Samantha reviewed various KWT Mandiri activities, ranging from food crops and horticulture, catfish cultivation to laying hens.

Some of the plants grown include water spinach, eggplant, cabbage, bok choy, butterfly pea flowers, and chilies, which are planted according to the season.

In addition to producing food, the Mandiri KWT also develops agricultural products into various processed products. They market at least 14 processed products, including bok choy noodles, spinach crackers, kenikir crackers, eggplant cake, chive sticks, frozen marinated catfish, catfish roulade, moringa leaf tea bags, butterfly pea flower drinks, ginger tea, gado-gado, bakwan (fried fritters), and peas.

The Mandiri KWT's activities have also yielded several achievements. The group participated in the Climate Village Program (Proklim) competition and received the Proklim Utama award from the Ministry of Environment.

In addition, KWT Mandiri is a partner of the Cimahi Police in supporting community food security.

Empowerment activities are also aimed at supporting family health. KWT Mandiri also distributes eggs and vegetable packages at integrated health posts (Posyandu) as part of stunting prevention efforts.

Samantha hopes that these various achievements can motivate KWT Mandiri members to continue innovating and expanding the benefits of their activities.

"To the women of the Mandiri Women's Group (KWT Mandiri), stay enthusiastic, keep working hard, and never stop learning and innovating. Let our visit motivate you to progress even further," she said.

Meanwhile, coaching for the KWT in Cigugur Tengah Village is conducted routinely every three months. This activity serves as a forum for evaluating various KWT activities throughout the village and as a platform for sharing experiences between KWTs.

The training also included material provided by the sub-district and the Cimahi City Food Security Service to strengthen the group's capacity in developing agricultural, food and family economic activities.
