PORTALJABAR, DISTRICT. GARUT - Regional Public Drinking Water Company (Perumda) Tirta Intan Garut held a Forum Group Discussion (FGD) regarding the suitability of the Drinking Water Supply System Master Plan (RISPAM), Regional Medium Term Development Plan (RPJMD), and Business Plan (Renbis) in the Office Hall PDAM Garut, Garut Regency, Friday (21/6/2024).

The Regent's Expert Staff for Government, Law and Politics, Dedy Mulyadi, explained that the 2022-2042 RISPAM for Drinking Water Supply as stated in the Garut Regent's Regulation Number 261 of 2022 emphasizes the importance of implementing a drinking water supply system to guarantee the people's right to drinking water and access to services. drinking water, as well as fulfilling the basic daily drinking water needs of the community.

"Providing drinking water is a basic need and socio-economic right of the community that must be fulfilled by the government. The availability of drinking water is one of the determinants of improving people's health, welfare and productivity in the economic sector," he said.

He revealed that the 2020-2024 RPJMN mandates 100% access to adequate drinking water. In Garut Regency itself, currently access has reached 80%. However, PDAM Garut Regency continues to strive for improvements, including achieving 15% safe drinking water and 30% access to piped drinking water.

"The five-year plan also targets 90% access to sanitation services, including 15% access to safe sanitation, as well as 0% open defecation (BABS). Garut has implemented an ODF program to eradicate open defecation by providing MCK sanitation in various areas," he said.

Dedy added that Garut Regency still has great potential to increase the coverage of drinking water services in urban and rural areas.

"Earlier it was reported that Perumda Tirta Intan has carried out potential water source mapping. The potential water sources in Garut Regency are indeed very abundant," he said.
