PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Informal workers in West Java can now register for employment insurance from the Social Security Agency (BPJS Ketenagakerjaan) through the Aing Insurance program. Registration can be done through the Aing Insurance feature in the Sapawarga app or by calling the West Java hotline at 082126030038.

The West Java Provincial Government (Pemprov) will cover BPJS Employment premium payments for 5.4 million informal workers in 2027. The premium value is IDR 16,800 per month.

West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi stated that Aing Insurance recipients will receive five benefits. First, unlimited treatment for work-related accidents at a class I government or equivalent private hospital.

"For 12 months, workers are given compensation for being unable to work amounting to 100 percent of their salary and starting from the 13th month until they recover, they receive 50 percent of their salary," said KDM, Dedi Mulyadi's nickname, Monday (28/9/2026).

If a work accident results in permanent total disability, the worker will receive compensation of IDR 56 million.

Workers who die due to a work-related accident will also receive compensation, which will be distributed to their heirs. The amount is Rp 70 million, consisting of Rp 48 million in death benefits, Rp 12 million in periodic benefits for 24 months, and Rp 10 million in funeral expenses.

If a worker dies due to a non-work-related accident, their heirs will still receive compensation totaling Rp 42 million. This includes Rp 10 million for funeral expenses, Rp 20 million for death benefits, subject to a minimum of three months of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan membership. Furthermore, the worker's family will receive periodic benefits totaling Rp 12 million for 24 months, subject to a minimum of three months of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan membership.

Finally, Aing Insurance also provides coverage for workers' children. If a worker dies or becomes permanently disabled due to a work-related accident, their two children will receive a scholarship of Rp174 million. The same scholarship applies to workers whose deaths are not due to work-related accidents, provided they have been BPJS Ketenagakerjaan (Employment Social Security Agency) members for at least three years.

The requirements for claiming these benefits are quite simple. Workers or their families simply need to provide documents such as an identity card (KTP), death certificate, marriage certificate, family card, and bank account to BPJS Ketenagakerjaan.

Jajang, a resident of Bayongbong, Garut Regency, experienced this benefit in 2025. After his father, who worked as a farmer, passed away, he received compensation from BPJS Employment.

Jajang was also grateful and thanked the West Java Provincial Government for the assistance provided.
