PORTALJABAR, BEKASI REGENCY - The Acting Regional Secretary (Pj Sekda) of Bekasi Regency together with the ranks of the Cikarang District Attorney's Office (Kejari) conducted a direct review of the BS.H.0 Dam/Water Gate construction project on the border of Kalijaya Village, Cibitung District, Wednesday (15/10/2025).
Acting Regional Secretary of Bekasi Regency, Ida Farida, said that this review activity was part of the monitoring and evaluation of ongoing national strategic projects.
"By going directly into the field, we can mitigate various obstacles that might hinder the development process," he said.
Ida stated that, based on on-site observations, the physical progress of the work was progressing quite well. However, there were challenges with material supplies, which were impacting the smooth progress of the contractor's work.
"The work is progressing quite well, but the only issue is the supply of materials. It was also mentioned earlier that the contractor's material supply is very limited," he explained.
He added that the dam's construction has strategic benefits for the surrounding community. Besides flood control, it also supports agricultural irrigation and potentially provides raw water.
"This dam can help with flood control, supply agricultural irrigation, and in the future has the potential to be developed as a clean water provider for the surrounding community," he added.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Bekasi District Attorney's Office, Eddy Sumarman, who also accompanied the inspection, acknowledged several technical obstacles, particularly related to the supply of building materials.
"After our direct inspection, we found that there are indeed material supply constraints, with quantities significantly lower than needed. This is due to government policies regarding the regulation of mining activities," he said.
According to him, the policies implemented by the provincial government have had an impact on the supply of materials in a number of areas, including Bekasi Regency.
"The provincial government's mining control policy automatically impacts the supply of materials for dam construction like this. The impact isn't just in Bekasi Regency, but also in other areas," he said.
District Attorney Eddy Sumarman encouraged cross-regional coordination to ensure the smooth progress of the national strategic project.
"There needs to be coordination between the district and provincial governments regarding existing policies, so that strategic projects can proceed according to target," he added.
Despite slight deviations in work progress, Eddy emphasized that overall, construction is still progressing well and measurably.
He added that the Prosecutor's Office will continue to monitor and provide constructive input to ensure that development continues on time and on target.
