PORTALJABAR, BOGOR CITY - Deputy Mayor of Bogor, Jenal Mutaqin, encouraged government officials to be more adaptive in using social media to counter hoaxes and expand development information to the public during a Casual Discussion forum at the Auditorium of the Bogor Regency Regional Secretariat (6/5/2026).
The forum, initiated by Korem 061/Suryakancana, was attended by the Special Staff of the Minister of Defense for Social and Public Communication, Deddy Corbuzier, and was attended by elements of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum, heads of regional apparatus organizations, sub-district heads, village heads, Babinsa, and Bhabinkamtibmas from Bogor City and Regency.
Deddy Corbuzier believes the spread of hoaxes and misinformation on social media needs to be addressed with factual, timely, and easily understood narratives.
"There are four points in social media: transparency, adaptation, empathy, and comedy," said Deddy Corbuzier.
He said negative content spreads more quickly because it utilizes social media algorithms, so the government needs to actively present accurate and transparent information.
"Local governments must be able to understand the dynamics of social media by conveying the truth and what has been done," he said.
Commander of Korem 061/Suryakancana, Brigadier General TNI Thomas Rajunio, emphasized that the dissemination of positive information is important to prevent the public from being influenced by fake news.
"Not just the president's program, but all government programs," stressed Thomas Rajunio.
Jenal Mutaqin asked all Bogor City Government officials to implement responsive digital communication patterns so that the public can obtain valid information regarding public services and regional development.
"When there are hoaxes or misinformation, today we no longer remain silent, but respond with factual and true news," said Jenal.
The Bogor City Government will also apply the principles of transparency, adaptation, empathy, and humor in its digital communication strategy to increase public trust in government information.
