PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government has successfully recorded a decrease in the number of waste dumped at the Sarimukti Final Disposal Site (TPA) over the past two weeks.
Acting Regional Secretary of Bandung City, Dharmawan, reported that the average daily trips in October 2024 reached 174 trips per day.
However, since the beginning of November, there has been a gradual decline with the following details:
November 1-7: Average 158 trips per day.
November 8-14: Reduced further to 153 trips per day.
November 1-14: Down to 155.9 ritase per day.
"This decline proves that efforts to sort waste at the source and manage it in clusters are starting to show results," said Dharmawan at the Integrated Waste Management Task Force Evaluation Meeting at Bandung City Hall (11/16/2024).
One of the keys to the success of the waste transport to the TPA is the implementation of the "unsorted, untransported" policy. Waste that is not sorted at the source will not be transported to the TPS.
In addition, supervision carried out at the regional level also helps accelerate the implementation of waste management in clusters.
However, Dharmawan emphasized that waste management in clusters and sources still requires further optimization to achieve the target of 140 trips per day by the end of November.
"We ask for support from all parties, including regional and cluster managers, to continue to improve performance and achieve this target," he added.
Head of the Bandung City Environmental Service (DLH), Dudi Prayudi, appreciated the performance of the entire team that had succeeded in reducing waste flow.
"We really appreciate the performance of all of you. However, this effort needs to be maintained and improved so that the target of 140 trips per day can be achieved," he said.
The Bandung City Government is committed to continuing to reduce the burden of waste entering the Sarimukti TPA through more integrated management.
This step is expected to not only reduce the flow, but also strengthen public awareness to sort waste from the source. (Bandung City Communication and Information Service/Fauziah)
