PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government together with the West Java Provincial Government (Pemdaprov) are moving quickly to rearrange the Pasteur Street area.

In a surprise inspection conducted together, the Governor of West Java, Dedi Mulyadi and the Mayor of Bandung, Muhammad Farhan emphasized their collaborative commitment in arranging the sidewalks and controlling semi-permanent stalls and illegal parking in the area.

"The Governor gave instructions that the Provincial Government will directly handle the arrangement of the sidewalks on Jalan Pasteur, especially on the north side. The south side will be handled in stages," said Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan, Tuesday (8/4/2025).

Farhan also said that all semi-permanent stalls and illegal parking, especially those used by travel agencies, will be regulated.

"There are complaints from the public about illegal parking. We will take action. Including supervision of street vendors. We will ensure that none of them reappear in this area," he said.

Not only focusing on infrastructure and order, waste management is also a highlight in this joint agenda.

Farhan said that the Bandung City Government is targeting a 30 percent reduction in waste through waste processing at the RW level.

"I will directly control all 30 areas every day, ensuring that each RW has a cleaning team. Of the 1,597 RW, only 413 RW have been running. We will pursue the rest in the next year," he explained.

Meanwhile, the Governor of West Java, Dedi Mulyadi fully supports the firm steps taken by the Bandung City Government. According to him, the face of Bandung City must be beautiful again, starting from cross-government collaboration.

"We are collaborating with the Mayor. Bandung must return to its true identity. And the residents must also help maintain it. Don't be discouraged if reprimanded by the Mayor or Governor. This is for the common good," said Dedi.

Dedi added that waste management cannot only rely on the government. It requires active involvement from the community at the regional level.

"The Mayor has prepared a cleaning team. But without the support of the residents, the results will not be optimal," he said.

The arrangement of Jalan Pasteur will also be the first step of a broader collaboration. In the future, the roads in Bandung City will take turns to be a priority to be arranged to be more comfortable. (Bandung City Government Public Relations/rka)
