PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government fully supports the national nutritious food program which is in line with the grand vision of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto.

This was stated by the Mayor of Bandung, Muhammad Farhan when opening the Food Handler Training for volunteers of the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) at the Horison Hotel (15/3/2025)

This activity aims to ensure that the quality of nutritious food for school children is maintained according to food safety standards.

Farhan assessed that this training was not just about improving skills, but also part of friendship and joint efforts in realizing the national vision.

"I am very happy that we can gather in this holy month of Ramadan. This training has a strategic value in ensuring that the nutritious food consumed by children remains clean. Direct contact with contaminated food can cause disease, and that is what we avoid," said Farhan.

He also highlighted the importance of the role of SPPG in realizing President Prabowo Subianto's grand vision regarding the provision of national nutrition.

According to him, despite many challenges and criticisms, efforts to improve the quality of community nutrition must continue to be carried out with seriousness and budget efficiency.

On that occasion, Farhan revealed an interesting plan to support this program. He was interested in the concept of "Smile Car," a food transport vehicle that was welcomed by school children.

"I'm thinking with the team from Kominfo to contribute. Maybe we can't provide the car yet, but we can help with the branding so that the children are more enthusiastic," he explained.

According to Farhan, this nutritious meal program is not just about feeding children, but is an investment to improve the quality of human resources in Bandung.

"This is in line with the vision of Bandung City which is superior, open, trustworthy, advanced, and religious. We want to produce the best human resources in Indonesia," he said.

Meanwhile, Director of Region 2 BGN RI, Sony Senjaya, said that improving the quality of human resources (HR) is highly dependent on the fulfillment of good nutrition. Therefore, the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program is one of the priorities in development towards Indonesia Emas 2045.

"The quality of human resources is not only measured by intelligence, but also by physical and mental health. Access to nutritious food for children and pregnant women is key to building a healthier and more productive generation," he said.

Sony explained that the MBG 2025 program has started since January and will run until December, with gradual implementation according to SPPG readiness. Currently, 726 SPPGs have been spread across 38 provinces in Indonesia and continue to be expanded.

The implementation of this program involves various cross-sectoral stakeholders, including the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Home Affairs, to cooperatives and MSMEs. SPPG volunteers play a key role in ensuring that the food served meets nutritional and food safety standards.

This training emphasizes the importance of skills, knowledge, and compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) in food handling. Participants receive materials from experts in the fields of nutrition and food safety.

Sony said that this training was not only about theory, but also a moral commitment to providing the best service to the community.

"This quality improvement step is the main capital in providing the best nutritional services for Indonesian children," he said. (Bandung City Communication and Information Service/Fauziah)
