PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) in Bandung City has experienced a significant decline. It was recorded at 7.4 percent this year from the previous 8.83 percent in 2023.
This achievement received appreciation from the Acting Mayor of Bandung, A. Koswara. According to him, the decline in poverty rates was the result of the efforts of the Bandung City Government together with the Manpower Office (Disnaker) in providing jobs and supporting the formation of new entrepreneurs.
Koswara said that there are two main strategies of the Bandung City Government to overcome poverty.
The first strategy is the development of new entrepreneurs. Disnaker has provided training and mentoring for people interested in entrepreneurship.
"The formation of new entrepreneurs is not only done once in training, but also continued with support until their businesses can grow and become independent. This is one of the important steps to open new jobs sustainably," he said.
The second strategy is to expand employment opportunities through support for local entrepreneurs and attract new investment so that the economy of Bandung City can continue to grow.
If the economy grows, job opportunities will be more open.
"With the growth of businesses in Bandung City, more and more vacancies can be created," he said.
According to him, Bandung City is one of the main destinations for job seekers because of its promising economic growth.
To support this, the Bandung City Government is also trying to strengthen the business climate that can bring more economic opportunities and open up space for immigrants and residents to work in Bandung.
As part of the TPT reduction strategy, the Bandung City Manpower Office has held two job fairs this year, namely in June and November. The job fair, which took place on November 6-7, 2024 at Graha Manggala Siliwangi, provided 2,433 job vacancies from 46 companies, and was attended by more than 8,000 job seekers.
In addition, the New Bimma application is also presented to help the public get information related to job opportunities and competencies needed by the industry. (Bandung City Communication and Information Service/Fauziah)
