PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government continues to seek innovative solutions in waste management. One of the latest steps is exploring the use of AutoThermiX technology, an environmentally friendly waste disposal system without fuel.

For this reason, Deputy Mayor of Bandung, Erwin, together with the ranks of the Bandung City Environmental Service (DLH) visited PT. Tohaan Renewable Energy Engineering (PT. TREE) the maker of AutoThermiX in Kebonwaru, Batununggal District, Friday (3/14/2025).

"We received an audience regarding this technology, and because we were curious, we wanted to see the operational process directly. It turns out that this is a different technology than usual, thermal-based with output that can be used to make paving blocks and ceramics, and has the potential to produce carbon credit trading," said Erwin.

He said that the Bandung City Government will conduct further verification of this technology, including reviewing the implementation that is already running in Serang and ensuring its legality aspects.

"If it is proven to be useful, I will report to the Mayor to consider using this technology as a waste management solution in Bandung City," he said.

The Bandung City Government will study the potential implementation of AutoThermiX in more depth. DLH and related agencies will conduct comparative studies to locations that already use this technology, before making further decisions.

"We do not buy machines, but pay based on the waste processed. This is a risk-free solution for the Bandung City Government. If all aspects are met, this technology can be a breakthrough in Bandung City's waste management," he said.

Meanwhile, President Director of PT. TREE, Budi Permana, explained that AutoThermiX is an autothermal-based waste disposal technology that works independently by utilizing syngas from its own process.

"This technology is designed to work without additional fuel, without open combustion, and without producing pollution. This process also has very low emissions because it uses a sophisticated emission separation system," he explained.

AutoThermiX comes in several capacities, namely 1 ton/day, 5 tons/day, and 10 tons/day, with a wide range of waste coverage, including mixed waste. However, this technology cannot yet be used for B3 waste (Hazardous and Toxic Materials).

So far, AutoThermiX technology has been used in Purwakarta, Serang and Subang for paper mill waste.

In the same place, the General Chairperson of the Indonesian Engineers Industry Cooperative, Faizal Safa stated that AutoThermiX is an innovative technology that can be a solution for waste management in Indonesia, especially in the city of Bandung.

"We curate technology, and AutoThermiX is one of the best. Bandung can be a pilot project for this technology-based waste management," he said. (Bandung City Communication and Information Service/rka)
