PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government through PDAM Tirtawening will repair residents' houses damaged by the burst PDAM Tirtawening transmission pipe in RW 005, Maleer Village, Batununggal District.

This incident occurred on Wednesday, June 5 2024, and caused significant losses to local residents.

Acting The Mayor of Bandung, Bambang Tirtoyuliono, stated that the PDAM Tirtawening Directors had met with affected residents to discuss house repairs and compensation for other losses.

Last night the PDAM Tirtawening Directors held a meeting with residents affected by the pipe burst.

"PDAM will repair damaged houses and other losses," said Bambang (6/6/2024).

Bambang is also accounting for the Bandung City Fire and Disaster Management Service, PDAM Tirtawening, together with the Regional Apparatus Organization (OPD) and other related agencies to move quickly to handle this disaster.

He explained that the PDAM transmission pipe that exploded was old, 50 years old. Therefore, a thorough evaluation is needed to prevent similar incidents in the future.

"I apologize to the public for this inconvenience and not being able to directly visit the location, because at the time of the incident I was monitoring road repairs in a number of areas as Head of the West Java BMPR Service. Today, I was in Jakarta accompanying the Acting Governor of West Java at the third quarter evaluation event for the acting Governor," said Bambang.

"God willing, after the event is finished this afternoon I will immediately go to visit the location," explained Bambang.

Meanwhile, the pipe that exploded on Jalan Maleer Utara RT 01 Maleer Village and RT 02 RW 05 Cibangkong Village has been successfully closed to stop the flow of water. Electricity at the location has also been temporarily cut off to avoid the risk of short circuits.

According to a written report from the Bandung City Fire and Disaster Management Service, a pipe explosion occurred at around 15.30 WIB at the house of a resident named Bambang.

Heavy water flowed from underground, causing Bambang and his neighbors' houses to collapse. Local residents immediately evacuated their families and valuables before contacting the emergency service 113 Diskar PB Bandung City.

PB Diskar officers arrived at the location at 16.30 WIB and immediately coordinated with the local RW and RT heads.

When he arrived, the water was still overflowing as high as ± 50 cm. The team immediately coordinated with related parties, including PDAM Tirtawening, PLN, Water Resources and Highways Service (DSDABM), Citarum River Basin Center (BBWS), Bandung Alert 112, Social Services, TNI and Polri to close the pipe that exploded and deal with the impact of the incident.

As a result of this explosion, two houses were heavily damaged (collapsed) in RT 01 RW 05, Maleer Village, which affected 2 families with 10 people.
