PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Bandung City Government provides support to RW 14, Jatihandap Village in the form of garbage carts as part of strengthening the Waste Free Area (KBS) program.
The provision of these carts is a form of motivation for the community to increase the spirit of sorting waste and maintaining togetherness in environmental management.
"We provide these carts specifically for wet or organic waste, because RW 14 is already in the KBS labeled area," said the Head of the Environmental Service, Erwin (18/4/2025).
Erwin hopes that with the KBS label, waste management will become a shared responsibility that is sustainable and has a broad impact.
"RW KBS is able to process 30 percent of waste. We hope that if it is like this, the management can increase by more than 30 percent," he said.
Head of RW 14, Jatihandap Subdistrict, Kalijo explained that residents in his area were ready to manage waste independently.
"We have waste sorting cadres. In addition, every Monday and Friday there is scheduled house-to-house garbage collection," he said.
Kalijo added that wet waste management is carried out every Tuesday and Saturday by sending it to the maggot house and utilizing the compost for Buruan Sae farming.
Meanwhile, for plastic waste, residents process it into ecobricks and save it in a waste bank.
"Plastic waste is made into ecobricks. We also have a waste bank. Alhamdulillah, this gives good results for environmental comfort," he said.
