PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Gedebage Waste Processing Site (TPS) is expected to start operating at the end of November 2023. At this polling station, 10 machines will be prepared.

"There (TPS Gedebage) the waste is processed, so it doesn't pile up. From maggots, compost to shredders, there are 10 machines. Hopefully it will be finished by the end of November," said Head of the Bandung City Environmental Service (DLH), Dudy Prayudi (16/ 11/2023).

Dudy revealed that currently the Gedebage TPS is still in the preparation stage. In the near future, biofoam will also be prepared for maggot cages.

"Now it is in the casting stage and waiting for drying. This week we are preparing biofoam for maggot cages," he said.

Dudy explained that currently only 100 tons of waste has been reduced from 1,200 tons of waste throughout the city of Bandung. Meanwhile, around 20,000 tonnes of rubbish is still stuck, spread across 8 TPS which is still overloaded, with rubbish on the side of the road.

Meanwhile, Daily Chair of the Waste Emergency Management Task Force, Ema Sumarna, revealed that the number of waste disposal incidents at the Sarimukti TPA for Bandung City had decreased from 241 to 180 incidents.

Therefore, the Bandung City Government continues to look for alternative solutions to the waste problem.

As an effort, continued Ema, the government continues to provide support to the community to process waste.

"Later a hangar will be built for maggots, the budget for each sub-district has already been prepared. So the sub-district head has no excuse, there is no cost because it has already been prepared," he said.
