PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The Regional Government of Bandung City showed its seriousness in protecting the environment by signing a joint commitment at the peak of the commemoration of World Environment Day.

The activity took place at the Biodiversity Park (KEHATI), Jalan Gagak-Cipadung, Palasari Village, Cibiru District, Bandung City, Wednesday (12/6/2024).

Acting Mayor of Bandung, Bambang Tirtoyuliono, said that this commitment was a concrete step to protect the environment and ensure a better future for future generations.

"With the cooperation of all parties, it is hoped that the city of Bandung can become an example in sustainable environmental management," he said.

Bambang hopes that this signing can be a momentum for all the people of Bandung City to continue to care and be active in preserving the environment.

Contents of the Joint Commitment to support the Implementation of Climate Change Adaptation, Mitigation and Institutions in the City of Bandung.

The following is the content of the commitment signed by various Bandung City Regional Apparatus Organizations (OPD):

A. Bandung City Environmental Service
1. Will consistently increase the number of climate villages.
2. Mitigate environmentally sound waste management.
3. Implement conservation and protection of biodiversity in the city of Bandung.

B. Department of Water Resources and Highways
1. Support climate change adaptation efforts through flood control.
2. Designing adaptive infrastructure for flood management, water absorption, protection and management of springs.
3. Carrying out terracing and rainwater harvesting in Bandung City.

C. Department of Housing and Residential Areas
1. Support adaptation of clean water supply.
2. Mitigate domestic waste management.
3. Increase vegetation cover on critical land.

D. Food Security and Agriculture Service
1. Support food security through the Buruan SAE (Healthy, Natural and Economical) program.
2. Maintain an integrated system of planting and agricultural patterns.
3. Diversify food crops and use land management technology and fertilization.
4. Greening critical land in Bandung City.
E. Health Service
1. Commit to adapting to diseases caused by climate change.
2. Carry out vector control, increase clean and healthy living behavior.
3. Encourage community-based total sanitation and the Open Defecation Free (ODF) campaign in Bandung City.
F. Bandung City Fire Department
1. Support mitigation to prevent fires and handle disaster emergencies such as fires, landslides and floods in the city of Bandung. (Diskominfo Bandung City/Revo)
