PORTALJABAR, SUBANG REGENCY - Acting Governor of West Java, Bey Machmudin, directly reviewed the implementation of livestock vaccination such as cows, goats, and buffaloes to anticipate the transmission of foot and mouth disease (FMD). The review was carried out in Cisaat Village, Subang Regency, Tuesday (14/1/2025).
On that occasion, Bey appreciated the swift steps taken by the West Java Province Food Security and Livestock Service (DKPP). The vaccination effort is an important preventive step to protect the livestock population from the threat of FMD.
"I saw firsthand the vaccination of livestock, this is one of our efforts to prevent the spread of FMD. I really appreciate (the role) of both the Ministry of Agriculture's vaccine and also the provincial government (West Java)," said Bey.
Bey explained that the West Java Provincial Government has budgeted 52 thousand doses of vaccine for the implementation of massive vaccination. In addition, his party also ensured that this vaccination was carried out in stages and well coordinated.
"The West Java Provincial Government has budgeted (vaccines). But we are trying to make it gradual and hopefully there will be no spread of the disease (FMD)," he said.
He also added that assistance from the Ministry of Agriculture in the form of 163 thousand doses of vaccine has been made available. With the synergy between the central and provincial governments, this vaccination is given free of charge to farmers, without any charges. This vaccination process will be carried out periodically twice.
"This vaccination is free for farmers, with the injection process carried out twice. The first injection (is carried out now), and six months later a booster will be given again (to increase effectiveness)," said Bey.
With this effort, the West Java Provincial Government hopes to be able to create better food security and encourage the livestock sector to remain productive and safe from the threat of disease.
