PORTALJABAR, KARAWANG REGENCY - The West Java Provincial Government closed the operations of PT Mas Putih Belitung which manages the mine in Tamansari Village, Pangkalan District, Karawang Regency, Tuesday (15/9/2026).

The closure was marked by the installation of Satpol PP Line at the entrance gate to the mining area by the Regional Secretary of West Java, Herman Suryatman, accompanied by the Head of West Java Satpol PP and representatives of the Karawang Regency Government.

Regional Secretary Herman stated that his office had repeatedly reminded the company to fulfill several requirements so that its mining operations could continue. However, the company had not complied with the requirements even after the third warning.

"The West Java Provincial Government has issued three warnings: in May 2025, May 2026, and finally in August 2026. Several requirements must be met and completed for this mining business to continue. However, we checked today and found that not all of them have been met; many items are still incomplete," he explained.

Herman emphasized that no activity should take place until all requirements are met, including those concerning social issues.

"There should be no activity until everything is completed, such as social issues being addressed. Tomorrow, you will be invited to discuss various challenges in the field," said Herman.

The mining product managed by PT Mas Putih Belitung is cement raw materials supplied to PT Jui Shin Indonesia. The mine's operational location utilizes a 10-kilometer provincial road, the Badami-Loji section. Dozens of 30-ton trucks pass through daily, damaging the road.

"The consequence of this mining exploration is that it uses provincial roads and is now in a damaged condition," said Herman.

The conditions caused by this mining activity have been the subject of complaints from the surrounding community. Community representatives conveyed their concerns to the Governor of West Java yesterday, and the immediate response was to close the mine operations today.

Herman explained that the West Java Governor had issued a warning letter in the form of administrative sanctions. To revoke the sanctions, PT Mas Putih Belitung must fulfill four conditions: the construction of public facilities around the mining area, road repairs, sidewalk revitalization, and the arrangement of food stalls.

"In the name of the provisions, the law, and of course in the interests of the community, we are halting mining operations. Sanctions will be lifted if four clauses are met," Herman said.
