PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The West Java Provincial Communication and Information Service (Kominfo) together with the Regency and City Communication and Information Services and the leadership of the West Java Provincial Government OPD held a coordination meeting in the West Hall of Gedung Sate, Bandung City, Wednesday ( 7/8/2024 ).
This time the coordination meeting was held in the form of a Podcast entitled the Ngontek Champion Podcast (Technology Chatting).
The coordination meeting presented the Head of the West Java Province Communication and Information Service, Ika Mardiah, in the first session, who spoke about the application of block chain technology ( blockchain ) in securing important data in West Java.
"This coordination meeting is carried out with something new so that it is not monotonous and there is active interaction from the participants," said Ika Mardiah.
In simple terms, blockchain is a technology used to store data digitally on different nodes, originally used in crypto transactions.
Now not only among the IT community, but this technology is starting to become familiar among ordinary people. This phenomenon, which originated from the development of internet technology, is increasingly in the spotlight of the general public.
There are many opportunities to utilize this blockchain technology apart from in the cryptocurrency sector, also in the public sector.
The public sector in several countries has implemented blockchain technology. Its decentralized nature means that this technology does not have a single authority with full control, but is divided into each server that has special software or software installed. This condition makes it safe to have data backups that are difficult to hack.
"Looking at the incident some time ago, related to the burglary of the national data center, this technology could be an alternative and West Java has started implementing it," said Ika.
He explained that the use of blockchain was in applications managed by the West Java Province Regional Civil Service Agency (BKD), namely e-Pension and the West Java Provincial Government Apparatus Information System (SIAp Jabar).
This implementation is a step forward in realizing transparent, accountable and trustworthy governance.
The next stage will be a comprehensive blockchain implementation across all personnel application features.
"The West Java Provincial Government is committed to providing safe, comfortable and reliable public services. "The implementation of blockchain technology is one of our efforts to realize this commitment," said Ika.
It is hoped that with the application of blockchain technology, public trust in government services will increase.
Apart from that, blockchain can also encourage innovation and efficiency in government governance.
"We in the province are ready to help districts and cities if they want to utilize this blockchain ," he said.
Blockchain in the Public Sector-SPBE
This blockchain platform has proven effective in maintaining data security, especially in terms of data verification and encryption.
The concept of proof of authority applied on this platform ensures that the data stored in the Electronic Based Government System (SPBE) application in West Java is always accurate and protected from manipulation.
Blockchain is generally useful for protecting transactional data in SPBE applications.
However, blockchain is not the only absolute security solution, it must be accompanied by increased security of network access, applications and digital security literacy for SPBE application developers and users.
In this event, a joint signing was also carried out to increase the SPBE index and quality ranking as well as the percentage of responses to public complaints (SP4N Lapor) in West Java.
"Every year the West Java SPBE index always increases, as does the city district level. The West Java Provincial Government's SPBE index rose from 3.37 in 2023 to 4.14 this year," said Ika.
