PORTALJABAR, BEKASI REGENCY - The Bekasi Regency Government (Pemdakab) has welcomed the construction of an Air Conditioner (AC) factory owned by LG Electronics in the MM2100 Industrial Area, West Cikarang District.
This Rp374 billion investment is seen as a strategic step in strengthening the regional industrial sector, encouraging local economic growth, and creating new jobs for the people of Bekasi Regency.
The Deputy Regent (Wabup) of Bekasi, Asep Surya Atmaja, conveyed this when directly reviewing the factory construction site with the Deputy Minister of Industry, Faisol Reza, and the ranks of the Bekasi Regency Manpower Office, Wednesday (16/4/2025).
"Alhamdulillah, I have discussed with the leadership of LG Electronics. They are very open in absorbing local workers, and this is very much in line with our program. Our target is clear, to absorb as many local workers as possible," he said.
The LG Electronics factory, which stands on an area of 32,000 square meters, is planned to start operating at the end of 2025. In the initial stage, the factory will absorb around 150 local workers, with the potential to increase the number of workers in subsequent development stages.
Asep emphasized that the absorption of local workers is part of the 100-day work program currently being run by the Bekasi District Government. To support this, the District Government is also optimizing the role of the Job Training Center (BLK) and Job Training Institute (LPK) to ensure the readiness and competence of local workers according to industry needs.
"We want the workforce that is distributed to have adequate competencies, so that they are ready to be used in the industrial world," he said.
In addition to focusing on the workforce, the Bekasi District Government is also encouraging the involvement of local small and medium industries (SMEs) in the supply chain of large companies such as LG Electronics.
The local government also invites companies to implement Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs that have a direct impact on the community.
With the presence of the LG Electronics factory in Bekasi Regency, the local government hopes to increase the competitiveness of the industrial area, encourage exports of electronic products, and strengthen the role of Bekasi Regency as one of the centers of national economic growth in the manufacturing sector.
With the LG Electronics factory operating by the end of 2025, the Bekasi District Government is optimistic that there will be a significant increase in economic activity and regional competitiveness.
The presence of foreign investment is expected to not only be a driving force for industrial growth, but also create an inclusive employment ecosystem, empower local business actors, and strengthen collaboration between the industrial world and local governments in creating sustainable and community-oriented development.
