PORTALJABAR, BEKASI REGENCY - The Bekasi Regency Government has set the Emergency Transition to Recovery status for 14 days, starting from March 19 to April 1, 2025, after previously being in a disaster emergency response status.

This decision was taken to ensure post-disaster recovery from floods, landslides, extreme rainfall, abrasion, strong winds and tornadoes that hit a number of areas.

The determination of this status was announced directly by the Regent of Bekasi, Ade Kuswara Kunang, in the Emergency Response Evaluation Meeting at the Bekasi Regency BPBD Emergency Response Post, Cikarang Pusat Regency Government Complex, on Tuesday (18/3/2025).

This meeting was attended by Regional Secretary Dedy Supriyadi, Head of BPBD Muchlis, and a number of heads of related regional apparatuses.

According to Regent Ade Kuswara Kunang, this status change was made after evaluation results showed that the flood had receded in most areas of Bekasi Regency, leaving only one affected village, namely Huripjaya in Babelan District.

"After evaluating the steps taken by BPBD, regional apparatus, sub-district heads, and village heads, we have determined this emergency transition status," said Ade.

As a long-term recovery step, the Bekasi Regency Government will normalize rivers and canals, and issue circulars to the village level informing about the socialization of the regulation of fraudulent buildings and environmental maintenance.

"This instruction will be given to all stakeholders in the sub-districts and villages to be more concerned about protecting the environment. Currently, we are focusing on river rehabilitation as part of a long-term flood mitigation strategy," he explained.

In addition, the Bekasi Regency Government will also continue to provide assistance to affected communities, including health checks and logistics distribution to ensure that residents' basic needs are met.

Regional Secretary Dedy Supriyadi added that during this transition period, the government will still carry out various recovery efforts, including repairing affected infrastructure.

Of the Unexpected Expenditure (BTT) budget of IDR 30 billion, around IDR 10 billion has been used for disaster management during the Emergency Response status.

"The use of these funds is strictly expanded to be right on target according to the needs of the community and conditions in the field," said Dedy.

He also mentioned that if necessary, the emergency transition period can be extended every 14 days, depending on conditions on the ground and further recovery needs.

With the determination of the emergency transition status to recovery, the Bekasi District Government is committed to continuing to handle the impact of the disaster comprehensively, both in terms of short-term strengthening and long-term recovery strategies.

In addition to ensuring assistance for affected communities, the government is also preparing preventive measures to reduce the risk of future disasters, such as river normalization, controlling illegal buildings, and strengthening coordination with regional apparatus down to the village level.

Condition monitoring will continue to be carried out, and if necessary, this transition period can be extended to ensure the recovery process runs optimally and sustainably. (Diskominfosantik Kab. Bekasi/Fauziah)
