PORTALJABAR, DISTRICT. GARUT - Garut Regional Secretary (Sekda) Nurdin Yana officially opened the Physical, Mental, Spiritual and Social Guidance activities for Basic Social Rehabilitation of Neglected Persons with Disabilities. The event, which was attended by 23 participants, took place at the Garut Regency Social Services (Dinsos) Halfway House, Tuesday (25/6/2024).
This fourth year of activities is expected to provide significant benefits for neglected people with disabilities in Garut Regency, so that they can live more independent and productive lives.
Nurdin stated that this activity was a form of government concern for disadvantaged communities. Apart from that, his party also presents a Job Training Center (BLK) to provide skills development according to the participants' capabilities.
"Hopefully this gift will also give them the strength to make minimal efforts to adapt to the real conditions they face," he said.
Nurdin also revealed that neglected people with disabilities who took part in this activity received financial assistance which could be used as business capital and other needs.
"This means that it is adjusted to their capacity, so that the choice of skills will be adjusted to their conditions," he said.
Head of the Garut Regency Social Service, Aji Sukarmaji, said that this activity provides training for neglected people with disabilities so that they can get jobs. Aji added that beggars were also given training so they would not return to beggars and were assisted with the necessary equipment.
According to Aji, currently there are still many neglected people with disabilities who have not received training. Therefore, activities like this will continue to be held on an ongoing basis.
