PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - Acting Governor of West Java Bey Machmudin attended the High Level Meeting of the Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID) and the Regional Digitalization Acceleration and Expansion Team (TP2DD) throughout West Java at the Pullman Hotel, Bandung City, Thursday (8/8/2024 ).
When met after the event, Bey stated that this High Level Meeting aims to equalize the perceptions of all regional heads with the West Java Provincial Government to ensure price stability, especially ahead of Christmas and New Year (Nataru).
"This High Level Meeting is to equalize the perceptions of all regional heads, including Regents, Mayors, and us from the Provincial Government to ensure price stability, especially ahead of Christmas and New Year," said Bey Machmudin.
Together with 27 districts/cities through TPID and TP2DD, the West Java Provincial Government is trying to keep inflation under control, including by maintaining stocks of rice and other food ingredients in various regions.
The availability of food in a surplus area will supply areas that need it. By protecting an area from shortages, you can anticipate price increases.
"Later there will be a TPID that will continue to monitor each region to ensure there is no shortage or absence of stock," he said.
Bey also revealed that in July 2024, West Java Province's year-on-year (y-on-y) inflation was recorded at 2.25 percent.
Then the month to month (m-to-m) inflation rate for West Java Province in July 2024 is 0.06 percent, and the year to date (y-to-d) inflation rate is 1.16 percent.
Even though annual inflation in West Java is higher than the national average, which is 2.13 percent, this figure is still below the target.
"So we are keeping inflation under control and until July inflation is still on target," said Bey.
He also emphasized that monitoring of rice stocks and inter-regional trade as well as pumping was carried out to ensure that the rice harvest remained optimal this year.
"We got 7,000 pumps from the Ministry of Agriculture. There are some whose planting season was in October, they will withdraw to August. God willing, there will still be one more harvest at the end of this year. So the harvest will not cross over to 2025, but this year," he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of West Java BI Representative, Muhamad Nur, hopes that the agenda being held can become joint capital to maintain inflation in line with the target. Moreover, the inflation trend in 2024 shows a lower figure than 2023, namely 2.48.
Nur also wants accelerated digitalization to make the inflation control index better, especially in supporting development in West Java.
"With digitalization and electronification, hopefully the IETPD (Regional Government Transaction Electronification Index) will get better and we really need all of this in order to support development so that it is more efficient and further encourages the potential that exists in West Java," said Nur.
