West Java Provincial Government Accompanies Rape Victims in Cidadap, Provides Assistance in Accessing Health Services

PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY - The West Java Provincial Government through the Women's Empowerment, Child Protection and Family Planning Service (DP3AKB) provided assistance to N (23), a rape victim in the Cidadap area, Bandung City.

Head of DP3AKB West Java Province Siska Gerfianti said that her party provided assistance to victims through the West Java Women and Children Protection (PPA) UPTD in collaboration with the Bandung City PPA UPTD.

"Handling of the victims has been carried out through the West Java UPTD PPA in collaboration with the Bandung City UPTD PPA," said Siska Gerfianti in Bandung City, Sunday (5/1/2025).

According to Siska, the assistance that has been implemented by the West Java UPTD PPA, namely health access services (visum et repertum), on December 31, 2024.

The victim, a deaf and mute woman, was found to be pregnant on Sunday (29/12/2024), last week, after the employer where the victim worked, who was suspicious of the victim's behavior, took her to a midwife for an ultrasound examination (USG).

The results of the ultrasound, N was declared 26 weeks pregnant. The victim's sister then reported the case to the West Java Regional Police, on Monday (12/30/2024).

Based on the victim's written confession, there were nine perpetrators. The victim was raped by the perpetrator by inviting the victim to a boarding house or hotel in the Lembang area, West Bandung Regency, and a hotel in Cimahi City.

Based on the victim's statement, she was raped by three perpetrators every day.

The victim did not rebel because he had another illness that allowed the victim to suddenly forget, as if nothing had happened to him.

Siska also said that on January 2, 2025, an initial assessment and case identification were carried out, and on January 3, 2025, the West Java UPTD PPA received a referral letter requesting assistance and an initial assessment of the victim's mental side from the West Java Regional Police PPA Unit.


Follow-up handling

Siska added that the follow-up plan for handling is an initial assessment of the victim's mental side.

"This will be done by expert psychologists," he said.

In addition, the West Java UPTD PPA will also provide assistance in accessing health services for victims at the Garuda Health Center, Bandung City.

"The initial assessment of the victim's mental side and access to health services at the Garuda Health Center will be carried out next week," said Siska.
